1:1 sitting doesn’t scale when staffing is thin.

Hospitals rely on in-room sitters to keep at-risk patients safe, but staffing a person in every room around the clock is expensive and hard to sustain, especially during nursing shortages. Health systems needed a way to monitor patients remotely without losing the safety and responsiveness of in-person sitting.

Software, hardware, and the service model behind it.

Co-designed the virtual-sitting software and the mobile, cart-based hardware workflow that let a single remote sitter monitor multiple rooms at once. Just as important, I helped stand up the clinical-services delivery model — staffing, monitoring protocols, and escalation workflow — so health systems could adopt virtual sitting as a full service, not just a device.

Deployed at Orlando Health, Ballad Health, and Select Medical, with cart hardware, software configuration, and the clinical-services model rolled out together so each site could go live with monitoring coverage from day one.

A scalable alternative to 1:1 in-room staffing.

A 70% reduction in sitter costs and a 0.5-day reduction in average length of stay across deployments, giving nursing leadership a way to keep patients safe without staffing every room.
