THE CHALLENGE
One health system, a dozen hospitals, and no room to disrupt care.
Ballad Health needed to consolidate virtual care under one platform across a large, multi-hospital system while a prior vendor relationship wound down — with no acceptable window for care disruption. Multiple use cases had grown up independently, on different tools and workflows, across 12 hospitals and hundreds of physicians.
WHAT I DESIGNED
An enterprise architecture built for sequencing, not just scope.
Owned the enterprise solution architecture end to end — mapping every existing use case onto the new platform, sequencing the migration hospital by hospital, and designing the technical and clinical workflows so each program could go live without disrupting patient care. Worked directly with health-system executives to align on scope, timeline, and risk before a single integration was built.
HOW IT WAS DEPLOYED
Phased, site by site, with change management running alongside the build.
Rolled out in phases across all 12 hospitals, coordinating clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders at each site. Change management ran in parallel with the technical migration, so clinicians and staff were trained and confident before each go-live — not after.
IMPACT
A reference account for what enterprise virtual care can look like.
All 12 hospitals transitioned successfully, with 14,000 team members and 800 physicians supported on the new platform and multiple virtual-care use cases live. The relationship became a reference account for expanding into further programs.
